Rochester Museum Science Center – Eisenhardt Auditorium

The idea for the Eisenhart Auditorium, located on the site of the former private Columbia School was born about 1969 as the school prepared to vacate the property and move elsewhere. Located in Rochester’s prestigious East Avenue Preservation District, the Rochester Museum and Science Center (RMSC) was expanding its campus in the early 1970s to incorporate portions of the school property which was adjacent to the museum property. Acquired through the generosity of Mr. M. Herbert Eisenhart, the former president of Bausch & Lomb, the included former gymnasium/ auditorium was remodeled into a 400 seat multi-purpose auditorium and exhibition facility which opened in 1974.
